Awilda R. Marquez, Esq.

 

Ms. Awilda Marquez currently serves as an attorney at the prestigious Denver law firm of Hall & Evans. She was Chief Counsel to the Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration agency in Washington, D.C. for several years, and was later nominated by President Clinton and confirmed by the United States Senate to be Assistant Secretary of Commerce and Director General of the U.S. Commercial Service. Recently, Ms. Marquez represented the States of Colorado and Hawaii, practicing tort litigation in the Office of the Attorney General of each of those states. 

 

Ms. Marquez received her J.D. degree from the University of Maryland, School of Law in 1988 with honors.  She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Georgetown University, magna cum laude, in 1980, and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

 

Ms. Marquez is a member of the Bar Associations of Colorado, Hawaii and Maryland, the Colorado Hispanic Bar Association and the Colorado Women’s Bar Association. She has received several regional and national public service awards. Ms. Marquez is fluent in both French and Spanish and speaks some Bengali.
