This web page has been designed to provide answers to the following questions: 1) What are DHA’s responsibilities regarding Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973; 2) Who is an qualified individual with a disability; 3) What is a reasonable accommodation; 4) What is DHA’s reasonable accommodation policy; and 5) How do I apply for a reasonable accommodation from DHA?

It is the DHA’s policy to provide an accommodation in housing for applicants, public housing residents and Section 8 clients with disabilities, if the accommodation is reasonable and necessary to provide them with an equal opportunity to participate in, or benefit from, DHA housing programs.  This policy is in furtherance of DHA’s goal of providing affordable housing to low-income persons, regardless of disability, and in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local law.
